Wedding Reception Themes

Wedding reception themes can be fun if you would like to do something different than a traditional wedding.

For instance, you could do a Renaissance wedding. The bride, groom, minister, wedding party, and even the guests could all dress up like they would if they were going to a Renaissance fair and get married in those types of costumes.

The theme could continue on in the reception by eating Renaissance period food. All of the participants could speak olde English. This was done on an episode of the popular television show, Gilmore Girls when Luke's sister got married.

You could do a Star Trek or a Star Wars theme or have a Lord of the Rings wedding doing much the same thing with costumes and food and period language. It might be a lot of fun.

You could do a Pilgrim themed wedding, a Bible time period wedding, or maybe a wedding from an earlier period in the 1900's, such as the 1920's or the 1940's, for example.

How about having a theme from a musical like Grease?

How much fun was that?

You might consider an ethnic wedding such as a Greek wedding, an Italian wedding, or a Japanese wedding, using their clothing, food, and customs and extend them to the reception.

Or you could have a normal traditional Christian wedding and then change clothes after the wedding and save the fun for wedding reception.

A co-worker of mine in El Paso decided to have a cowboy wedding. She and her husband got married on horseback in jeans and matching cowboy shirts out on a ranch in Oklahoma.

Wedding reception themes could be Western, or a Disney movie, a Science fiction book or movie, a fairy tale, or just about anything you can think of that would not be too complicated. Have fun with it.
