Wedding Reception Food Ideas

This section will give you some wedding reception food ideas to choose from if you would like to cater your own wedding with help from your family and friends. This can be a great way to save money.

First, decide on the type of reception you want to have and then choose the foods and find recipes for the dishes you want to serve your guests.

It is a good idea to plan out entire wedding reception menus before picking the one you will use.

Don't forget about drinks at your wedding.

I have written two different articles about fingerfoods that can give you some great ideas for incorporating them in your reception.

One of the easiest food ideas is to make a wedding reception buffet. With a buffet, guests go through a line and choose the foods they want.

Food for wedding receptions can be served hot or cold. Personally, I think it is easier to serve cold foods and keep them cold if you have a big crowd. Sandwiches, fingerfoods, and salads work really well at a reception when they are cold.

Food for a wedding reception that you cater yourself can be hot as well. Lasagna, manicotti, and other baked casseroles can stay hot for a long time. Crockpot dishes stay hot, too. Stews, pasta in sauce, Swedish meatballs, and macaroni and cheese all make good crockpot dishes.
