There are so many wedding hairdos for the bride to choose from. From the classic and sophisticated updo to the softer, more modern and romantic updo, from wearing it down long to cutting it short, from straight to wavy to curly, today's bride has many options.
The bride can choose to do her own hair and makeup the morning of the wedding or she can make an appointment with her trusted hairstylist for the morning of the wedding and have it taken care of.
Many brides schedule a hair and makeup appointment right before they dress for the wedding which is great if your regular trusted stylist/makeup artist who knows what you want and like is available. But what will you do if he/she is unavailable on that date? Maybe there was a family emergency or he/she got ill. Or maybe you are having a destination wedding and your hairstylist cannot be there.
It is always a great idea to try several alternative easier styles just in case. Have your stylist show you how to do some easy styles that will look great with your veil or headpiece. Then go home and practice at least a few weeks in advance just in case. It will put your mind at ease.
The same thing with makeup. You normally do your own makeup everyday. You can do your own makeup on your wedding day. You may want to use slightly different colors, but chances are that you will be okay doing your own wedding makeup. Just practice with color changes beforehand.
Think about possible wedding hairdos several months before the wedding. Consider how the hairstyles will go with your veil or headpiece. Take it with you so the stylist can work with it and recommend the best hairstyles for it.
If you want to completely change your hairstyle for the big day, it is important to have your hair done several days beforehand so you can have time to work with it before the wedding day.
I gave myself a perm two weeks before my wedding (above.) I had given myself perms many times before so I knew what I was doing. My hair came out fine and I styled it myself on my wedding day.
If I had never done it before, I would not have permed my own hair for the occasion. Your wedding day is definitely not the time to experiment with your hair.
Cinnamon, my daughter-in-law, wore her hair up under her veil. The veil was lifted at the start of the ceremony and the veil was a part of her hairdo until the reception. She looked beautiful (below.)
