Wedding Bible Verses
Using wedding Bible verses is one of the best ways to create a Christian wedding. These are normally read at most weddings. You can add special meaning to your ceremony by choosing your favorites.
They can be read by the pastor, or one or more of your friends or family members. The readings can be inserted almost anywhere in the ceremony such as during
the Unity Candle
portion or the
Unity Sand
portion of the ceremony.
Wedding Bible verses can be read out of many translations with the two most popular being the
NIV or New International Version
for its modern language and
the King James Version (KJV),
loved by many for the sheer poetic sound.

Take some time and sit down with your fiance several months prior to the wedding and go through familiar passages. Choose your Scripture readings together so they will have meaning for you as a couple at your marriage ceremony.
There are
many beautiful passages
that can be incorporated into your ceremony.
Among the favorites is I Corinthians 13, commonly known as the love chapter. Sometimes chapter 13 is read in full during the ceremony. Other couples choose only verses 4-8, while some also tack verse 13 on to the end of these five verses.
Another popular choice of
wedding Bible verses
is Genesis 2:20-24. This is where God made Eve for Adam so he would have companionship in The Garden.
In Ephesians 5:22-33, Paul compares Christ's love for the church with the love a groom should have for his bride.
Paul talks directly to the bride and groom in Colossians 3:18-19.
Solomon sums up the beauty of marriage in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12.
Jesus talks about marriage and Adam and Eve and their relationship in Matthew 19:4-6. Here, he quotes Scripture as above from Genesis 1.
Also, in Colossians, Paul wraps up how a husband and wife (and the whole body of believers in Christ) should treat each other. This is a beautiful passage about love and forgiveness so important in the marriage relationship. It is Colossians 3:12-17.
Aside from Scripture, there are many beautiful poems and other writings to choose from as well, some Christian and others secular. Remember that you want to glorify Christ on your special day as the center of your union so
Scripture is important.
Other readings are fine to use in addition to your favorite Scripture passages.
There is also
love poetry in the Bible.
There are many beautiful love songs to be sung or read as well, whatever you prefer.
