Wedding Reception Brunch

by Jean
(El Paso)

My sister got married at 10am. Right after the ceremony, we held a wedding reception brunch in the fellowship hall of the church. We served the food buffet style. We had coffee, water, and juices. We had a sweets table that included donuts, pastries, coffee cake, and cookies. Then we had a table that had breakfast tacos, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and cheeses, along with fresh fruits.

We also had the wedding cake and little covered boxes for guests to take a slice with them since most people were full from the brunch. So they took the slices of wedding cake home as a favor inside the little boxes. It worked out perfectly.

My family and friends cooked the food or got it from bakeries and eateries close to the church. So we did not pay a caterer, thus saving a ton of money. The wedding brunch was actually cheaper than serving a lunch would have cost and my sister and her new husband left at noon to catch a flight for their honeymoon. The guests loved the wedding reception brunch. We have had a lot of compliments on it.
