Serving Wedding Communion

Serving wedding communion is usually up to the minister performing the wedding. How it is done is really up to the church that the pastor preaches in. Some churches use real wine and Host, which is a flat, tasteless wafer. Other churches use crackers or a small loaf of soft bread with grape juice. Either way, the bread or cracker represents the body of Christ, which was broken for us when he was hung on the cross. The juice or wine represents the blood of Christ that was shed for the forgiveness of our sins. According to the Bible, only born-again Christians should take communion so if you include it in your wedding, be sure that both you and your husband-to-be are born-again Christians. This is not my rule. Paul writes in the New Testament that only those who have received Christ as their personal savior should participate in Communion. You see, it is not a church ritual. It means something....By adding communion to your wedding, you can show all of your non-Christian relatives and friends that you are Christians and that Jesus' sacrifice means a great deal to you. This is a great witness. Most ministers are comfortable serving wedding communion, whether you get married in a church, in a home, or outside. I have seen it done in all settings.
