Hors D'Oeuvres Wedding Reception

by Olive
(Rhinebeck, NY)

You can save money on your reception by not making it a sit down dinner party. Have an hors d'oeuvres wedding reception. Make trays and trays of your favorite hors d'oeuvres. Have a big variety of treats for your guests to eat. They will fill up on them so no one wil starve. Offer plenty of desserts to go with the wedding cake. Have coffee, tea, water, iced tea, lemonade or something else suitable for children. If you want to get fancy, serve some delicious wedding punch.

You can have friends act as waiters and walk around with trays of the wedding reception hors d'oeuvres. A tray of each type can be placed on each guest table for nibbling. Or you can set them out buffet-style on a serving table. As the trays empty, have someone replace the hors d'oeuvres.

Make sure you have a good variety. Some with meats, cheeses, seafood, veggies, fruits. Some crackers with spreads with no meats. Let guests know there is plenty. When they are just about gone, cut the wedding cake and start on the desserts.

Having an hors d'oeuvres wedding reception is a simple and inexpensive way to have a great party, especially if you can get members of your family and friends to make their specialties and bring them to help you. Most people are only too happy to help someone they love and care about. All you have to do is ask. They will usually be honored to be a part of such an important day.
