Homemade Chocolate Turtle Wedding Favors

by Sandra
(Des Moines)

For my sister's wedding last year, we made homemade chocolate turtle wedding favors. We used Wilton chocolate pieces, melted them in the microwave, poured the chocolate into the rounded molds about 1/4 of the way up. Then we squirted in a small amount of caramel that you put on ice cream. Make sure you add just a tiny amount or the caramel will leak out of the side of the candy.

We added a pecan half on top of the caramel and then poured more melted chocolate on top of the pecan to the top of the mold.

They hardened in the fridge and then we made enough for each guest to have 4 homemade chocolate turtle wedding favors.

We filled small boxes from Michael's with the 4 chocolates and topped them with tiny bows in her wedding colors. Light blue and light green. They looked too pretty to eat. We added a label that said "handmade by Sara and Justin, April 2007.

We had the whole family working together to make the turtles and pack them. We got a lot of compliments from the guests. The candies were delicious.
