Christian Wedding Rings
You should have some information on the different metals used to make Christian wedding rings.
You may think, "Do I want gold or silver?" Wrong.
There is yellow gold, rose gold, white gold, and platinum. Other choices as well. Silver is not a particularly good metal for a wedding band. It tarnishes a lot and is soft. If you want your ring to be silver-colored, it will probably be white gold or platinum.
So let's look at the differences in metals that will be used to make your set of Christian wedding rings.
Yellow Gold
Most brides choose yellow gold. All gold is hypo-allergenic.
Yellow gold is a soft metal so it has to be mixed with another metal. The higher the karat, the less other metal is used in with the gold. So the gold is then purer, which means it costs more.
For example, 18 karat gold is more costly than 10 karat gold. 10 karat gold is stronger than 18 karat gold. Most jewelers recommend 18 carat gold for wedding rings.
Rose Gold
Rose gold has a pinkish hue to it compared to yellow gold. Rose gold is a mixture or alloy of gold and copper. It looks especially beautiful with pink or red-colored stones.
Gold comes in other colors as well. Other shades of gold are red, pink, green, and peach. Multiple colors of gold can be used on the same ring.
White Gold
White gold looks beautiful with diamonds. Silver in color, it tends to go well with clear-colored diamonds. It is about the same price as yellow gold.
Platinum
Platinum is also a silver-colored metal but is harder than white gold. This means it is more nick-resistant. However you will pay about double what you pay for white gold.
Platinum is hypo-allergenic. Some platinum rings are plated with Rhodium to make them shiny. This plating has to be redone once a year. It is better to leave the platinum as is. It makes an excellent wedding ring.
Palladium
Palladium is another white metal that is less expensive than platinum. It is strong and holds a good polish. It makes an excellent choice for Christian wedding rings.
Titanium And Stainless Steel
Titanium has become popular lately in wedding rings. Both it and stainless steel are non-precious metals. They will cost less and are scratch resistant.
Most couples opt for precious metals for their wedding rings. The choice is yours.
