Cheap Plus Size Wedding Dresses
Not all brides are a size double 0. Some brides have plenty of curves and may need cheap plus size wedding dresses. The average size of women in the United States is a size 14, which is not exactly tiny. Don't be offended. Right now, I wear a size 14. I was a size 5 when I got married but three kids and 22 plus years later...The last few weddings I have been to this year had brides with curves. The bridal magazines and wedding gown designers seem to think that every bride is a toothpick. A quick look through any bridal magazine displays anorexic waifs who look like they have not eaten in years, with the outlines of their bones showing. Who wants to look sick on their wedding day?
Amazingly now, some designers are realizing that there is money to be made by making wedding gowns in sizes that most brides can fit into, including making some cheap plus size wedding dresses. There are many expensive plus size wedding dresses as well, but we are all about saving money here at Create A Christian Wedding.
David's Bridal carries some larger wedding dresses. Every so often they have a $99 dress sale. There is no guarantee on sizes and styles that are on sale, but they are worth looking at.
Some department stores as well as other bridal shops do carry larger dresses but they are usually very expensive.
If you or someone in your family is a talented seamstress, buy a pattern that you love and make your dress. You will save a lot of money and you can make your dress the way you want it to be.
You may be able to hire a good seamstress to make your dress. When I was a girl, my grandmother, Elvina Yorgensen, was a seamstress and had a shop in her home. I was there a lot since I lived across the road. My grandmother made beautiful wedding dresses, veils, and bridesmaid dresses. She was so talented.
Look for someone in the neighborhood who will not charge you an arm and a leg to make your dress. Don't go to a shop in an expensive strip mall where they are forced to charge high prices to pay the rent.
Ask friends and relatives if they know of a good seamstress. Someone does and this could be the perfect way to get cheap plus size wedding dresses made to order. My grandmother would have the brides-to-be come in a few times for fittings before finishing the dresses. I don't think she charged nearly enough for her work and her clients used to tell her that all the time.
