Cater Your Own Wedding Reception

by Rita
(Poughkeepsie, NY)

Here is a great idea to save money. Cater your own wedding reception. Get together with some family and friends and plan the menu you want to serve at your wedding. Assign each person present to make or to find someone to make each type of food. Make sure there is enough of each type of dish to go around.

Choose what type of reception you want. Do you want to serve a hot, sit-down dinner? What about a nice dinner served buffet style? How about cold food or even fancy sandwiches and fixings?

Think outside the box. You do not need to serve roast beef to your guests. How about Swedish meatballs? Lasagne? How about a variety of pastas? Yum!

How about deli sandwiches with chips, veggies, fruits and wedding cake? Yours can be an original reception. Pick a theme and stick to it. Don't worry about trying to outspend so and so's wedding who used an expensive caterer. Use your resources and your imagination and you can come up with a wonderful reception that people will talk about it with fond memories many years later. You can cater your own wedding reception and have it turn out great!
