Candle Favors To Make

Votive wedding candle favors are great gifts to give to your wedding guests. They are attractive, useful, and smell good if you use scented candles. And who does not enjoy aromatherapy?

Everyone enjoys candles, either for the smell or for the soft glow they provide on a cool evening. They are romantic and make a room look inviting and warm. Candlelight also makes us look more attractive than a direct light. I enjoy using them for dinner parties and for holiday parties, especially around Christmas time. I fill the house with candles at Christmas.

Votive favors are simple to make. There are several ways to make them attractive and appealing. Below are some easy instructions to put some wedding candle favors together:

You will need a circle of white tulle sold in packages in craft stores, some 1/8" ribbon, and votive candles. Vanilla and lavender are good choices but choose the colors and scents that go with your wedding and that you prefer. Unscented candles are fine also, if you prefer. Some guests may have allergies to some strong candle scents.

Place the votive in the center of the circle of white tulle. Gather up the sides on top of the votive and secure with a length of ribbon. Tie the ribbon in a bow.

You can present this as is to your guests or string a small charm onto the ribbon before tying it. A small tag or sticker attached to the ribbon can be added with the date and the names of the bride and groom. This idea is simple, yet elegant and your guests will enjoy receiving them.

Here is a video with some more ideas that I made.

Another variation of this wedding favor is to wrap it in tissue paper instead of tulle. Put 2 small pieces of tissue paper together. Squares should be at least 8"x8".

Place the votive in the middle and gather up the sides. Twist the paper and secure with a small piece of "invisible" tape. Tie a bow with a length of ribbon about 10" long. Then open the paper above the bow into a flower. Trim the tissue paper, rounding the edges.

For a fuller-looking flower, add one or two more sheets of tissue paper.

Below is yet another video I made about making wedding favors for your guests.

Of course, if you don't want to make them, you can always buy pre-made wedding favors.
