Bible Readings For Weddings In King James Version

For some couples, King James is the only version they want to use for Bible readings for weddings.

So for your convenience, this page has the most popular scriptures for marriage ceremonies in King James or KJV.

Genesis 2:20-24

...For Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. -- Genesis 2:20-24 KJV

This is one of the more popular of the Bible readings for weddings in the King James Version.

Matthew 19:4-6

....Jesus said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,

And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

Wherefore they no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. -- Matthew 19:4-6

The above two Bible readings for weddings are similar and many weddings include a portion of Matthew 19:4-6 at the end of the ceremony when the pastor pronounces the couple as husband and wife.

Ephesians 5:22-31

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. -- Ephesians 5:22-31 KJV

Colossians 3:12-19

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. -- Colossians 3:12-19 KJV

This is one of the Bible readings for weddings mentioning the importance of forgiveness.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor.

For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?

And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. -- Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

This is another of the most popular Bible readings for weddings because of the phrase "threefold cord is not quickly broken". Some weddings include a threefold cord ceremony where one cord represents Christ and the other two represent the bride and groom.

These are the most popular Bible readings for weddings in the King James Version. Hope they help you to create the Christian wedding of your dreams.
