Best Honeymoon Places

The best honeymoon places are everywhere, depending on what the two of you like. As a little girl, I used to look through magazines at pictures of far away places and dream of my wedding and where I would go on my honeymoon. I would then cut the pictures out and glue them in my scrapbook and write stories of the sites we would see and the fun my pretend husband and I would have there.

My most favorite place to imagine going to on my honeymoon was Paris, France. I have always wanted to go to the Eiffel Tower and visit other beautiful Paris landmarks. When I entered junior high, I took French as my foreign language and studied it for four years, learning about French food, culture, and art.

As I studied French in high school, I still imagined myself going there for my honeymoon. Unfortunately, that did not happen. To date, I have not been yet, but I still want to go!

So if you can budget for it or for your dream destination, cut back a little on the actual wedding expenses and plan a dream honeymoon trip. You will remember it for the rest of your life and it will be much more meaningful to you and your husband-to-be than expensive flowers or a designer wedding dress.

Another best honeymoon place in my opinion is Hawaii. I have wanted to go ever since the Brady Bunch went back in the early 1970's in a two-part episode. I have not been but I still want to go. From the pictures I have seen, any of the islands will do!

Because I live here and I think that the Riverwalk is beautiful and is a lot of fun. San Antonio is a great place for a honeymoon. We have first class hotels along the River Walk with spas, great restaurants, wonderful downtown shopping, and top notch tourist attractions. Not to mention that we have a Six Flags theme park and Sea World Of Texas here.

I spent a year in San Diego and it is another on my top ten list of best honeymoon places to go to. It is gorgeous to watch the sun sink deep into the Pacific Ocean at night. The Coronado Bridge, all lit-up at night is very romantic. Old Town San Diego is a great place to shop for souvenirs and to eat some of the best seafood in the United States. You can swim in the ocean and go sailing or take a day cruise out on the bay. Of all the places I have lived in the United States, San Diego is the prettiest. It is gorgeous year-round.

Colorado Springs is the second prettiest place where I have lived in the U.S. and there are so many natural attractions there in the mountains that it makes the perfect honeymoon getaway.

While we lived in El Paso, Texas, we took several vacations up in the mountains of New Mexico. There is a beautiful hotel in Mescalero, New Mexico called Inn Of The Mountain Gods and it is a year-round paradise. If you are wanting a destination wedding but you don't want to leave the United States, this is your place. Gorgeous facilities and a perfect backdrop make this a postcard-perfect wedding setting. It is close to Ruidoso which is a wonderful place to shop in summer and the perfect place to ski in winter.

My parents honeymooned in New York City. I grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York and visited the city a few times. If you have never been there, it would be a great place for a honeymoon. Stay in a first class hotel if you can afford it. The sites and sounds of New York City are like no other city in the world and you and your husband will have the time of your life. It truly is fascinating to see all of those huge buildings. The restaurants in Manhattan are top of the line.

Of course, you should go to at least one Broadway play while you are there. A visit to Central Park, especially in the fall, will enhance your trip. Seeing the colors change in New York is eye candy! I miss that so much. We do not have a fall change of colors here in San Antonio and fall was always my favorite season back there.

Number eight on my list of best honeymoon places is Anchorage, Alaska. I have wanted to visit there since I was a young girl. The sparkling snow, gorgeous trees, and wildlife make it seem so perfect. I must confess I loved the show Men In Trees. The scenery was magnificent.

Number nine on my best honeymoon places list is Port Aransas, Texas. Off the mainland of Texas, you have to go across to the island by ferry. We vacationed there about six years ago and stayed in a beautiful condo for several days. It was right on the beach. The beach was clean, the water was warm and inviting, and strolling the beach at night was so romantic! The seafood restaurants in town had a delicious array and there are plenty of shops for souvenirs as well.

The number ten spot on my best honeymoon places goes to Sydney, Australia. Down under would be fun. The beaches look so blue on TV and in the movies and some little trips to see kangaroos and koalas would be so enjoyable.
